Silent Disco, Korea

Have you ever heard of “Silent Disco”? At the first time I heard, it came to me like a paradox. How could a disco be silent? But yes, it exists, and I saw it with my eyes. In the World DJ Festival 2012 held in Korea, I was there, passing by a huge crowd dancing without music. Awkward, I stopped and stared at the group. What the hell is going on to those people? But soon I realized they were actually listening to music by wireless headphones. While staring at them, suddenly someone asked me to join the group offering a huge headphone and I couldn’t refuse to join. As I got my headphone on, I automatically joined the whole party and it was just irresistibly fun. I soon found out the Silent Disco team opens a party regularly at Hongdae, so if you want to enjoy the craziness for a night, stop by their website and check their schedule! :D

It seems super insane watching the group dancing with headphones, but if you be a part and experience the real party, you’re gonna LOVE it! How people stare at you isn’t a problem if you get your headphone on. Have fun!!! :D xx Liah.

Underline It!

How many of you guys are fond of wearing eyeliners on your under lid? Meeeee! I love wearing eyeliner on my under lid since it defines my eyes more and draws attention to my eyes. Here I studied a few different looks by alternating different colors besides black and brown! Imagine how versatile you can pull off with a single colored eye liner on your under waterline. If you’re in a hurry doing your makeup and you still want to glamour them. Put down your brush and your eye shadow and just grab a colored eye liner. Apply it underneath and it’ll instantly make your eyes pop! It’ll give you a fun touch of color.

1. NONE.
This is the eye with only the upper eye liner applied. This look creates a clear look.
2. NUDE.
Nude, beige, white, pink/peach colored eye liners awaken up your look and make you dolly and fresh.
3. GREEN.
Green liners could be a bit tricky one to wear but definitely an eye-catcher.
4. TEAL.
Great for summer. Aqua, turquoise, blue, and teal colored liners are definitely must haves for summer. Black under liner could be too intense whereas blue could instantly make your look fresh and summery.
5. BROWN.
One of the classic look as well as one of my most go-to look. If you use softer brown like I used, it’ll create a dimension and makes your eyes more wide and defined without looking harsh like something happens often when you use black.
6. PURPLE.
Most unexpected and flattering one. Makes you look both girly and glamorous.

Vary your underline color depending on your mood of the day! xx Liah.

Gwangbokjeol, Korean Independence Day

post by liah.
Today, Korean time, is the Korean Independence Day, Gwangbokjeol. Three days after South Korea achieved autonomy over Japanese colonization, the South Korean government was established on August 13th, 1948, and the first president of the country, 이승만 (Yi Seungman), declared August 15th as the official Independence Day of South Korea. On this day, an official ceremony is held at a history museum in Cheonan, the Independence Hall of Korea, or at the largest arts and cultural complex in Seoul, Sejong Center. The ceremony is led by the president. The official song for Korea’s Independence Day (광복절 노래: Gwangbokjeol Norae) is sung. The Korean national flag (태극기: Taegukgi) is raised to pay homage to Koreans who gallantly fought for the country’s freedom. You can also find flags displayed outside houses and buildings. There are parades citizens can take part in. Various TV networks feature special programs that are related to Korean history and independence.

Today is heavily raining at the moment in Korea. Hope you’re having an amazing day! With lots of love, xx Liah.

Watermelon Nails

Watermelon is one of the iconic summer fruit. Many Koreans crave of watermelon when it’s humid and hot, and a bite of watermelon cools down the heat immediately. I got inspired by the cute watermelon pattern and tried an experimental nail art! This try is a simple mimix of french nail and dot nails. :)

1. I thought using hot pink and lime green colour could be better to than using red and green directly. Colour choice is totally up to you! I used L’ Cret Nail Polish.
2. Apply two coats of the hot pink colour just like your normal manicure.
3. Draw a french line with the lime green. Two swipes are better if you feel the stripe is not opaque enough.
4. Now if you’d already have a dotting tool, feel free to use that. But if you don’t have one, no worries to buy one! You can use a pen or a toothpick for the tool. Drop some of the black nail polish and dot your pen.
5. Just randomly dot the watermelon seeds like whatever you’d like to the pink!
6. You’re done!

Send me a picture to my twitter or facebook if you do try it out! I would love to see your take :D xx Liah.
